I have a mixbreed 11week old male puppy that everynight he peeps and poops in his bed. I can't get him to stop. I wait late at night to take him out but this isn't working either. I need help. Does anyone have a idea how to stop him from doing this?
Is he in a crate at night, or just a bed? If he is in a crate, it might not be the right size. It should only be big enough to stand up, lay down, and turn around in, and take him out to relieve himself before you put him in his crate. Also, no food or water 1-2 hourse before betime.
Animals, what animals? My children just have alot of hair!
Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think an 11-week old puppy has the control yet to go through the night without relieving himself. Take him out midway through the night (no playing, directly back to his bed) for a couple of weeks and then slowly wean him to holding it for the whole night.
Actually you're right gb. Puppies generally do not have all night bladder and bowel control until anywhere from 16 to 24 weeks. Sometimes later.
Many customers contact me to in order to seek advice about this and I tell them that until their little bladders and bowels are big enough to hold them til' morning, they will have to get up with them in the middle of the night or let them do their business in the crate.
