I live for my Oreck. My Aussie hair killed several of my moms bagless and newer bag vacuums. Our Oreck held true. In fact when my original one died, it was becuase we accidentally vacuumed a wet carpet and the motor seized. it was so old that it didn't even have a serial number. They are very expensive, and I have my mine serviced every 1-2yrs. I will not change to anything else, and I think they are well worth the price.
The one I have now, I have had for about 6yrs. It runs like a champ, and cost me about $500. I know they have a new one I have seen that has a swival joint. I am considering trading mine in, depending on the price of the new one. I am guessing it will run around $700-$1000. Most Oreck stores will give you a trade in value on your old vacuum. My broken one that didn't work was worth $200 trade in value.
Hi I have a freind here that puts in hardwood floors. He just told me to get some of the big lint rollers take the handle off and put them in the corners of my room. He said that the hair will be attracted to them. Then just like ones a week peel off the top layer. I am going to try it because I hate the little hair balls that like to float around and hide were I can't get to them. I hope it works!
