Dachshunds

HI there! I have a year old mini dachshund named Oscar and he is fun in a bun! Just a few days ago I was admiring how adorable he is, and I noticed a big skin-tag like thing sticking off his bottom lip. I say skin tag because that's how it looks connected to his lip... The outer part of the 'growth' has the appearance of a mole though. A little dark on the tip (but my doxie is a Red Brindle, so he's dark in all sorts of random places). I've kept an eye on it for a few days, it hasn't gotten any bigger; this morning I was checking his mouth out more and I found another smaller one on the other side of his mouth, and on the top. It looked more like a mole, not quite skin-tag like. I notice him itching is face, and rubbing it on the carpet sometimes, but I believe Oscar has allergies of some sort. He's a pretty itchy dog, even though his diet is predictable and his coat is almost TOO shiny. Anyways, I'm not sure if he might be trying to itch the 'growths' sometimes.

I doubt it could be some sort of infection... Just 3 weeks ago Oscar went on a cycle of antibiotics to kick what we thought might have been a cough or respiratory infection (although I still think the 'wheezing/hacking' is some sort of allergic reaction...)

I plan on taking him in to my vet tomorrow (availability pending), but I'm just wondering if anyone has seen anything like this before- was it benign? Could it be cancerous? Any suggestions?

In case anyone read this.. we went to the vet today. Apparently, these are warts due to a papilloma virus infection common in puppies and young dogs. The warts can appear around and within his mouth,throat, lips, and around the eyelids. As Oscar's immune system mature and combats the virus, the bumps should disappear in 2 to 3 months. I'll need to keep an eye on them to make sure they aren't growing into darker masses, which could be malignant melanoma.
