I'm looking for some info about FIP. My son's 8 month old cat was recently diagnosed with FIP. They took the cat to the emergency clinic as soon as they noticed there was an obvious problem with the cat. Within just a few hours the cat's organs were beginning to shut and the cat was literally on "death's door" and they made the agnozing decision to have the cat put down. I've never heard of FIP before. I don't have cats but I've never seen an animal became so sick so quickly before. He has another cat which is the same age. He asked the vet at the emergency clinic is it possible the other cat could have the disease as well and asked if they should bring it to the vet to be checked out. She told him it wouldn't be worth having it looked at unless the cat begins to show symptoms. Somehow that doesn't seem right to me. I've told him to make an appt with our vet and have the other cat checked...even if it's a waste of money, to me it would be worth the peace of mind.
