I'm taking care of this tn for a friend and I was wondering if they could jump?? I've just started riding and haven't rode Ace at a gallop yet and I'm too scared to try jumping. Plus, I heard Western saddles are too heavy for jumping and my friend doesn't have any English saddles.
Yes a tenn walker can jump. They have to be in a nice smooth canter. A gallop is to fast, and a running walk/rack is not a gait in which most walkers can get there front and hind in together for a jump. I reccomend only jump small jumps, nothing over a 1.5 feet. They can have a tendency to mis judge, and clip their knees on the rail.
you can jump in a western saddle, but it is difficult and should only be done on really small obsticals on the trail. Never done in a planned arena jump. Only english saddles should be used for planned jumping such as arena or x-country.
