Could this be cherry eye? What happens if left untreated? There is no smell or discharge from the eye. Doesnt seem to hurt her. She just started getting it a few days ago. It is in the lower area of her eye nearest to the snout. My vet costs a ton to just visit so I would like some advice before I take her just in case it is nothing. I do have a pic of her eye but do not see how to put it on here.
You can use either tinypic.com or photobucket.com, upload your pics there then post the link here. Both are free to use.
Cherry eye, while not life threatening is something that needs surgically addressed. It can cause them discomfort over time and block tear production. If it is indeed, sherry eye you will need to go get a vet consult to discuss repairing it.
You will have 2 options, removal or tucking. In my experience, removal is your best option. Tucking very often with come free agin and need re-done. The only complication of the removal is they have a chance of getting dry eye from the removal. Personally I have not obe ever get dry eye nor has any of the friends I have that have also dealt with this.
Good luck, hope you can get the pics loaded...it only tale a second to be able to tell you if that is what your dealing with.
I have not posted before. I took my puppy to the groomer today. When I picked him up he had cherry eye. I looked on the internet and came across a website for a home remedy since I am unemployed. I tried what it said to do and it went away and my puppy is now fine. I am very greatful and felt the need to pass it on in hoping to help someone else. I put warm compresses on and massage like the link said. http://earthclinic.com/Pets/cherry-eye.html
Wow aren't you just a ray of sunshine. I am just writing my experience. It is working so far. Time will tell. If you are pro vet or pro surgery go for it. I am pro what ever works. I promise you that what I did to him didn't hurt him. In fact he went to sleep while I was doing it. I still hope this will help someone else. I believe in taking your pets to the vet when they need it for sure. This just wasn't one of those times.
My dog was diagnosed with two eyelids in his right eye. The vet said that it is obviously molesting the pup and that later it my cause an ulcer in the eye due to frequent irritation. The vet is from mexico and i really dont know if to let him operate him because i dont know if he will be blind after the operation or if he will be able to manage the anestithia. I need to know about how much it costs to do that here or should i just do it in mexico. I think its like cherry eye but the little ball is on the furthest side to the snout and even has little hairs in it.
