So i rope and barrel race. i was commented one time that the treatment of the animals that are being used in rodeo is harsh, cruel, and abusive. Honestly idk how people can see this...but maybe it's because i have a backstage view of it all. idk.
My grandpa owns a livestock/rodeostock company here in colorado and i have helped him for years with i all. the calves, bulls, broncs, and goats are never intentionally hurt and they are probably some of the most well treated animals in the world. The calves get roped the bronc and bull get a flank strap on but seriously none of those tools are put on for more than an hour at the VERY MOST and they all have tough hides. Nothing like that is going to hurt them.It is their job and purpose in their life. We take in retired rodeo animals and give them a great life until they pass on.
I honestly dont see any harm to rodeo animals whatsoever. I rodeo. That is my life. I go to school every day then i go out and practice on my horse. Rodeo and the western lifestyle is my way of life. I love it and if something wrong and bad and cruel was going on i would stop it or say something about it. I love animals, and i love my horses and cattle.i would never let anything happen to them. But people think it is cruel and mean and a terrible way for an animal to live....B.S.
What is your opinion on it?? message me or comment on here. I want to know what people think of Rodeo and the animals and people that are involved in it.
I imagine that people freak out when they see things like steer wrestling -- when the steer's head gets twisted 180 degrees. People who know rodeo know that the animals = $$$ and therefore they are treated well. I wouldn't worry about the others.
Everyone has there own ideas about everything. some people think crateing a dog is cruel, Mine sleep and eat in theirs. I love the rodeo, and watch bull riding alot. I don't see any issues, but all the media cares about is bad news. So anything that is bad gets attention.
Eh..... rodeos are a bit rough on animals. They make the bulls and broncs buck by using a 'bucking strap' that irritates them. Also calf roping.....you try going at a full run and having someone yank you back by the neck.
I think most extreme sports are pretty hard on animals. Stadium jumping is neat to watch, but I would never do it with my horse.
