I'm a senior in high school and I'm graduating in two weeks. I'll be moving out and starting to college soon so I was wanting to get me a puppy. I love bulldog faced dogs. I would usual get a Pitbull since I have lots of experience with those, but with all the banning going around and the fact I'll be leaving in an apartment, I was thinking I should get a smaller and/or calmer dog. I was looking at an English Bulldog or a Sharpei, but I'm not sure because I've heard mixed stories about them... Can someone help me?
I know you probably don't want to hear this but... PLEASE DON'T GET A DOG NOW. I'm not sure you fully appreciate how your schedule is going to change in the next year or two Please get at least one year of college behind you before you even contemplate getting a dog.
Well, I already have one dog and she's never been by herself because my mom has a dog too. I just didn't want her to be by herself and I'm used to taking care of two dogs anyway. Will she be ok by herself?
I'm sure she will miss her friend, but she will recover. I must say I have to agree with the previous reply though. Please don't take this the wrong way: I am also a college student, I do own a house though. I thought it would be a good idea to get a dog too. Idk if you've ever been the one to spend the money on shots and vet visits, food and everything but it really adds up. He and his needs are like having another bill to pay. I feel like I'm not home nearly enough for him and he seems lonely. But the idea of getting another dog...let alone a puppy for him to hang with just strikes me as crazy. With the schedule I have I do not have time to train a puppy. Please wait before you consider a puppy. You may find that even your current dog is a bit more than you thought she'd be. Good luck with school!
