I know the breeders on here would be interested in this if they havent seen it already. I am crossposting it from another site. Apparently the information has already been verified :
Dear AKC Customer
The American Kennel Club ("AKCR") received information from a breeder in your area indicating that an individual was attempting to impersonate an AKC Inspector to obtain access to their facility. Fortunately this breeder, like many others, has an excellent relationship with their Inspector and denied entry until they could confirm identity. After calling their Inspector, they were able to confirm that the purported AKC Inspector was in fact an imposter.
In most cases AKC inspectors will notify you prior to arriving at your facility. Additionally, at the time of the inspection, all of the AKC Inspectors carry a photo identification card. The Inspector will be happy to present that card to you should you have any concerns that the individual is an AKC Inspectors.
If at any time you have concerns, whether after receiving a phone call to schedule an inspection or when an inspector arrives at your location please do not hesitate to call (919) 816-3629 and confirm that the individual attempting to inspect your facility is in fact an AKC field agent.
Additional information regarding the AKC's Inspection Program can be found on the AKC website (www.AKC.org <http://www.akc.org/> ).
Oh yea, he's a die hard supporter too. He donated a bunch of money to a local university to offer a class to educate about animal rights. We are located smack dab in the middle of major cattle (beef and dairy) industries as well as other animal based agriculture.
Many of us involved with animals rights do NOT believe PETA cares at all about the animals - and certainly not about humane treatment of them. They might have started out with good intentions, but have gone way off base.
Please do not lump all of us together - just as there are ethical breeders and puppy millers, there are people genuinely interested in the animals and those who care more about publicity and other motives that I can't fathom.
