My husband and I are looking for a westie pup from a breeder in NY, PA, NJ, MA, NH, ME and we really don't know where to begin. Does anyone have any advice or more info on where to start. I am a teacher and will be home all summer to care for a pup, so we are looking for one to take home in the summer or next month.
google for a westie club of america. They would be your best bet on where to start. you want to go with a reputable breeder who does health and temperment testing. Westies can be a spit fire lol.
NEVER purchase from a pet store, they are puppy mill dogs, and usually very sick. Most pet stores pump puppies full of drugs to make the look happy and healthy, it only hides other conditions.
Don't go for cheapest, but you don't have to purchase mose expensive either. A good mid range with at least a 2yr or more health guarantee. Try to see the breeder, their dogs, and the facility where the pups/dogs are housed. Do your research, it will save you money in the end. Take your time to pick the one you want, and remember all puppies are cute. Make sure you choose a breeder who will be there for you and your pup for life.
