hi, i have a miniature dachshund. i got her when she was 35 days. on her 37th day i took her to the vet and she dewormed her. since then she has stopped eating anything. she is vomiting and making loose blood water like poop. i have been continuosly taking her to the vet since then. the vet has prescribed me medicines which i am continuosly giving her. the vet also gave her glucose thrice. i am feeding her cerelac, curd water with the dropper but after half and hour she pukes out. she has become really thin i mean i can see her bones. i dont know whats wrong. the vet says that she ll be fine. she had many worms in her body. thats the reason she is behaving like this. please help me is it normal for puppies to behave like this after deworming. i got her dewromed on 12 and today is 16. please help me what to do ?
I agree that it is time to seek a second opinion. You have a 1 month old mini daschund who has been vomiting for a few days and having bloody diarrhea. Even if it was the worming meds that caused this, sometimes some sensitive dogs do have reactions, this puppy should be hospitalized on IV fluids. If the medications are not working it may be time to think that something else might be going on and it is just coincedental that it happened at the time that the dewormers were given.
First let me make sure I got this right you got your dog at 4 1/2 weeks old! They puppy is way to young to be away from its mom. There is nothing you can do about that now but realize the this puppy needs special care. Going to the vet puts your dog at risk of picking up all kinds of nasty bugs and it is even worse when your puppy is so young and has not had time immunity to build up. As others have said on here you need to see another vet ASAP. Your puppy could have Parvo or it could be toxedia or any number of other bugs! It needs to be on IV fluids You have a little dog that has diarrhea and is vomiting IT WILL DIE VERY FAST with out fluids. It also could have eaten something that is blocking its bowels. I had this happen with a puppy one time and it needed emergency care! Again get your baby too a different vet NOW!
