Hello, my boyfriend and I rescued a 3 year old American Bulldog off the streets. He's been very great, healthy and lovable, but we have noticed that he has tiny bumps on his skin. In the beginning they weren't very big or very many, but now they are all over his body. They almost seem like acne but eventually get harder, scaley and turn dark. We are concerned about what it may be so we are switching his dog food incase of allergies and are taking him out to potty in an area with different bushes.
Anyone else have this problem? I would love to hear your ideas and advice. Thanks.
dogs can get acne, but more than likely it is an allergy, you can try benedryl to see if that helps. but you may want to start checking for things it could be, a lot of dogs are allergic to PLASTIC so make sure none of your food bowls including water bowl are plastic use only stainless steel, also sometimes the things you use on your carpets or floor, like carpet cleaner and especially those powders you sprinkle down and vacum up, It could also be the food. You will have to try to take one thing at a time and it may be a few weeks before you see results which will make it harder to figure out what is causing it. Also a visit to your vet is a good idea.
