Hi, I'm still a bit new to this website but those stuff in General helped me out a lot. My 1 year and 5 months old Bearded Collie named Ebony(female) has been a little aggressive for a long time.. I want to know why. I got it last 2 years ago on December. My father's friend gave it to me. He said it's a small sized dog like Shih Tzu or Maltese.. but I told him it's a Bearded Collie. Lol.

Ok, the reason why I posted this post is because my dog has been aggressive for quite a lone time. I think it started being aggressive when my dad first shouted at it for biting a pillow (which was mine). And that was when my dog was about 1 year and 2 months old. Then now my dad keeps shouting at it when it pushes the food bowl(is this a behaviour problem?). My dog seems okay with me, it doesn't bite or scratch me. But it doesn't allow my family or I to take the stuff in it's mouth. Like it's toys when we play fetch or things it somehow got from the wet kitchen like scrubs or cloths. My dog is a very good company, active and loves being cuddled. I always pet it and play with it once in a while. I also sacrifice some of my busy times to play and cuddle it. The only problem is the aggression. It will growl when I try to take those stuff out from it's mouth. Before my hand reaches it's mouth, it will growl softly then when I go nearer it will go louder and louder and when I touch it's mouth or the object, it will sprint and run off to another place.. then when I do the same thing, it will run off again and again. Sometimes it just gives me the item but sometimes it won't.. It bites me sometimes but it's not a serious injury or some sort. Just a really soft bite..

The things that matter to me is :
1)Is pushing it's foot bowl(dinner for Ebony) a behaviour problem?
2)How to get rid of the aggression?
3)Sometimes my dog doesn't want to eat it's food..
4)Fleas & Ticks. :(

I've done all the things I could do to make the aggression stop.. but it hasn't yet.. Tips from my friends, google and the previous forum worked a little but then my dog's aggression keeps going back. T~T I really need help.. I've done anything I could do and I found TP here and right now. I hope you guys can help. Thanks! (:

ok one thing is that your dad needs to stop yelling at her she is scared of him. Her pusing the bowl is just something that they do when they eat because the bowl moves around. you can buy dog bowl stands at a pet store or make one. The agresstion with the toys, dose you dad yell at her when she wont give the toys back ? One thing that you can do to get the toy away from her is to get another toy and give her that one and then praise her for giving you the toy. You will have to do this many times so that she knows that you are going to give it back to her never take it away from her and dont give it back that will make the agresstion worse. another thing that you can do is give her treats in extange for the toy. but always praise for the good behavior and forget the bad. dogs only learn from good. How many times do you feed her? Do you leave her food out all day or do you pick it up? Do you feed her at a regular times or whenever you can? And for the fleas and ticks they make medicin that you can put on her and there is shampoo that you can use. Ask your vet they will be able to tell you more about it. hope this helps let me know the questions and i will help you more. have a good day

So my dog pushing the food bowl is normal.. i'll tell my dad that. but the problem about that is when we're eating our dinner, there is a gate where we can see a pond and 3 small waterfalls and there are pebbles around there. And my dog eats its dinner there, she will push the food bowl and some pebbles will get in the bowl and maybe she'll swallow them. I think that is why my dad does the action.

About the toys, yes, my dad does say "Ebony" in a low stern voice.. and if my dog doesn't give back the toy, my dad will leave it for awhile and try again but never succeed.. I've tried my ways I got from my friends and seems to work out with me but not my family members. I think i'll try your idea on this.

I feed her 2 times a day; morning(7am) and evening(8pm or the time we eat out dinner). No, I don't leave the food out all day. Once it finishes, my maid or I will take the food bowl and wash it clean. But sometimes at night when it doesn't finish, I'll put it back out there without my dad noticing (I pity my dog.. but really I do that). I feed her regular times and I've been using those flea & ticks prevention shampoos, I've even bought some liquid sort of thing called Frontline for RM90 and lastly, my friend says there is a flea & tick prevention spray at the Curve. She says it is really helpful and she uses that on her dog. She also said that she was really surprise of the fleas & ticks disappearing. So it's effective. I've tried that on my dog and it has been disappearing too but there is still some left. I've asked my vet about it long time ago, they showed me that Frontline liquid thing and I bought that.

Also I think about last 2 months, my dad took my dog to cut her hair short. The pet shop said they only found 1 flea on it. And well, I thought that 1 flea was the last one since it had its fur cut (T_T) but it still seems to be scratching itself until now.. I'm planning to do the 3rd spray on her tomorrow morning.
