We just recently put down our 14 year old cat Crooked. Sadly it was a year and a day from the time we put down his sister Baby. My husband and I decided to not have anymore pets as the loss was terribly painful. I have had a change of heart as I desperately miss my little old man. Should I wait awhile? HAs anyone else had experience with this? Tracy
What you are feeling is very common. I have heard multiple times people swear they will never get another pet because it hurts too deeply when we have to let them go. While it does hurt deeply each and everytime, I cannot imagine not living with the joy they give us for the time they are with us. That to me far outweighs the pain and hurt we feel when it is their time to leave us.
11 years ago when I had to put my cat Silly to sleep, I swore I would never get another cat again. 11 months later Scully entered our home. Then Fox came and now Tart has joined us as well. I realized that even though we had dogs so our home wasn't without a pet, I really missed having a cat.
It is up to you how long you wait. You will know when you are ready to open your heart and home to another cat and there are thousands out there waiting for a second chance <3
I think you should adopt another it will help you cope with the loss and it will make you pay attention to the new cat instead of the one you lost, thats what i did after a loss of an animal now i have a three month old kitten named niko.
cruelty to animals should not happen if your going to abuse save yourself the trouble and don't
