Where did you get your dog? Was it from a breeder? If she was from a breeder then you should be able to get papers on her. Whether the papers will be worth the paper they are printed on is another story. If the parents of your puppy were not registered with any type of kennel club like the AKC, UKC, CKC, etc. then you probably will not be able to get papers on her. You could still get what is known as an ILP number from the AKC so at least you can participate in sporting events like agility and rally but as far as showing or breeding her, without legitimate papers you are out of luck.
ok thank you all. my problem is i found her on puppyfind.com and met her owner. my boo boo was when we asked about papers she said she would fax them to my vet. after we received amber we lost all contact. i tried calling and emailing. she lives 5 hours away so i cant just drop in at her house. thats why i was wondering if you could go about a different way in getting the papers
my name is mimi and i have chihuahua named amber who is 4months old. i love her to death and she is my baby girl. i
She certainly fed you a line. Vets offices don't have anything to do with registration papers and most reputable registries would require you to have an origional copy (not faxed) for a mail in registration. I don't purchse a dog without origional copy in hand at the time of sale, I did once and got shammed.
