I have had my Lab Pitbull mix Scarlet since she was 5 weeks old and I have never had anything but great things to say about her. She potty trained very easily and really hasn't had many behavior problems. Scarlet is now almost 3 years old and I just moved to a new house. This is her first move and all of a sudden she has a problem urinating on the carpet. She has never done this before. Could it be the stress of the move? Could it be because my boyfriend;s chihuahua urinated there first? If so, why can't I get her to stop? She really is a good dog but what can I do to break this new habit??? PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!
New house, new training rules. Use vinegar to clean pee spots, as ammonia based products such as 409 or Windex, resemble the ammonia in urine and a dog will keep marking over the ammonia smell.
You may have to retrain her, like you did when she was a pup, just not as intense. You have done it once, so you will be successful. Sounds like you have two dogs to train though, not just one. I wouldn't let them have free run of the home if they are urinating, so I would control both of their free time and keep taking them outside, so they know where to go. Good luck.
