I came to this site because it seemed very reputable, but what I've learned is that even though the site is reputable, I'm being met with some rather harsh opinions. In fact, I would rather attribute it to being noses stuck so high up in the air it's a wonder lightning doesn't burn out their nose hairs. I've offered advice, tried posting a few times in the forums, and shared some of my experiences in the chance that there would be someone out there with pee free cheerio's that might be actually nice. I'm all open for niceness because I give what I get, but thus far, I've yet to see it. So, I'm wondering, anyone genuinely nice out there or just overly critical?
Everyone on this forum IS nice. However we also aren't afraid to call a spade a spade. There isn't a person on this forum that doesn't care deeply for the wellbeing of all animals. So at times when someone is being a knothead they are called out on it.
i don't know where you have been met with harshness as I haven't seen but 1 of your posts. But if you stay long enough, you'll find out that you will get a lot of great advice in all aspoects of the forum.
This is a reputable forum I think, I have been on here many years. Most of us share many of the same views. The only posts I have seen is where you defend the ConKC, most of us do not like it, and find it to be a crap registry. You will find that all the way around on here. We either have good registared dogs with a reputable registry, or we have rare breeds with a good registry. You will also find a ton of us love our mutts. We also care deeply for those killed in shelters every year.
You can be who you want, and feel the way you do, but don't come here and tell all of us we are wrong. it will get nasty and bite you in the butt. Also pulling up threads for over a year ago just to fight about them will get you noticed.
The ads that I posted on were less than a year ago, one of which was in Dec of 2009, let me do the math. Just because I'm registered with ConKC doesn't make my dogs bad or low quality, and I did mention 1 of my dogs WAS registered with AKC, but I chose to register her back with ConKC, because I still don't think registration makes the dog.
What I have seen out of the larger registration institutions is dogs with a lot of issues due to inbreeding and that is something I do not in any way, shape, nor form support. What I am wondering is if some of the hostility is due to competition in the market and the struggling economy? The reason I joined this site is because I didn't see any breeders on here from my area, I've had wonderful clients from my prior litter, and was hoping to be welcomed and have some interesting chats and make some net buddies with similar experiences, so far, I'm still getting some flack.
My dogs eat only Blue Buffalo, they have socialization in car rides, trips to Pet Smart, participating in shows, regular grooming, sit with us and watch TV in the evenings, have the best veterinarian care, and are just enjoying life. I love my dogs and each of their individual personalities and I'm constantly being told how different my poodles are from what many have experienced out there. That's why I got into this, to share my lovely tempered dogs. My male dog has a sire that was half AKC/ConKC. All that means to me is that he had 2 parents that had different pieces of papers.
The fact of the matter is that if you don't like it....leave. Simple as that.
If you are looking for a place where everyone will always think the same as you do, then sorry, this isn't it.
We are all for having discussions about pet issues and such, but not many of us are willing to engage is discussions of the "woe is me" and "why doesn't anybody like me" and "why is everyone so mean" type.
There are no cliques, just pet lovers. We all have opinions and they dont always match. That is life, everyone will not always agree with you, its a lesson we learned as children.
Most regulars on here are very passionate about their pets and their opinions on being responsible, etc. You are free to have an opinion just as everyone else here. If you are going to get upset everytime posters do not see things the same way as you do, then you may need to rethink any forum, as they are all open format with folks from every walk of life on them. Disagreements are bound to happen. But those disagreements lead to very educational threads as long as everyone can control them selves.
