Please excuse me if this is in the wrong section. I wasn't for sure where to put this since it includes all animals.
So we just recently moved here to California on 883 Acres(Yes! It does exist). We are a small family of 4(2 daughters, a husband and a wife).
Anyway, the other night, we found out that we have new neighbors next to us. Well, I baked some Brownies and decided to head over there. When I reached their gate, my brownie pan literally fell out of my hands and splattered on the ground. There was a soaked box with 8 baby bunnies, not even a week old, sitting there. I took them home and luckily I know some about Bunnies. So I'm nursing them and stuff.
I'm afraid there's more to these neighbors that meet the eyes. I've heard puppy yaps, dogs bark and I've even seen two German Shepherds chained to Trees outside!
I don't know if I should call the police, the Animal Investigation Unit or what! The only shelter we have is for about 50+ miles(We live out in the country). And if they have to get all the animals out, they'll send them to the pound. The pound only takes 50 animals and they already have 40. They'll put all but 10 dogs or 10 cats to sleep!
Well considering you really don't know anything about these people or their situation the first thing I would do is find out what kind of situation you are dealing with. It would be very embarassing for you and any county official to make a complaint if there isn't anything to complain about. I have on occasion tied my dogs out to the trees in our yard because we don't have a fenced yard and on really nice days they can enjoy the weather. If someone drove by and saw that and assumed we leave them like that all the time I would be very angry and they would have egg on their face if they made a complaint because our dogs are in our house about 80% of the time.
So I would get to know them first and find out what the situation is before saying anything to anyone. Then once you have, decide first if the alternative for these animals is really that much better than the way they are being kept now. Remember that everyone cares for their animals differently. Just because someone doesn't care for theirs in the exact manner that you do yours, doesn't always mean it's wrong or bad. It's just different.
I would try the brownies thing again, and see if you can actually see an issue. How do you they put the bunnies their. I am not out in the country near as far as you, but have heard and see where people will drop off things at a random home. I have a fence now, but one of my aussies was on a chain alot before I got a fence. She was part of our family.
Just take a look. Brownies are always a good way to say hello.
I meant to say that I don't know if the bunnies were there's. So after we got home, I decided to do the Brownies again. Their gate was left wide open and when I pulled up to the house, there were no cars. I thought that maybe just one person was home. I knocked on the door and it opened(Apparently, it was left ajar). Suddenly, I felt something scratching my leg(I was wearing shorts). I looked down and saw a Beagle Puppy. Its tail wagging and all sorts. It was covered in fleas. I saw more Beagle puppies in the house(I saw it from where I was standing) and they were all covered in fleas. The house was covered in feces made from the dogs & Cats.
Edit * Forgot to mention this( I was too upset over the Beagle Puppies). There were glass aquariums stacked ontop of each other. Some had Guinea Pigs, other's Rabbits and other's had small animals(Hamsters, Rats, Chinchillas). I'm calling the Animal Investigation Unit tonight. I am so worried!
I would go with phone in hand and take some pics with out them knowing make some more brownies go t visit if you hear dogs and cant see them... SAY>>> oh cool you have dogs can I see them I am thinking about buying a new puppy...maybe they will show you... ask if they breed and sell them what kind etc..general conversation...when you have a full visual on things you will know what to do..Or spy with binoculars...
QUOTE BY CORSOMOM "This poster is on another forum tonight saying she is getting rid of all 8 of her dogs so she can get 2 new puppies. Its just a troll who gets their kicks fron posting lies on forums."
Yeah, that sounds about right.

And to think of the critisim I got for my so called nasty reply to this troll on her little marital issue because hubby wnts a mini Beagle and didn't consult her first. This poster has issues even worse than her marital issues. Apologies anyone? And just what might have been baked in those brownies anyway?
