I know that this is a puppy, 8 weeks in fact. But, She is not picking up on anything. I never had a beagle before and I am starting to not want one at all. I need some advice. First there is the housebreaking, Its exactly that breaking the house, she goes whereever she wants. When we first brought her home she seemed to know what puppy pads were and used them (gived praise, ect..) Went outside(gived praise, ect..) now its everywhere but. Yes I will go buy a crate. Secondly is the tething biting, not letting go of my 5 yr olds pantleg. We are alll full of holes, Nothing does any good. No scolding, just a light bop on the nose with one finger and a "no!". my once excited daughter is even saying to "take her back". When does this "puppy thing" end and how difficult are Beagles to train? I have had stubborn chows before but they at least listen at some point. I open the door and she bolts, I twisted my ankle going after her. Also, she refuses to eat out of her dog dish. I don't know what thats about. Any help?? Thank you!!
Sorry, I didn't see the age of the puppy. This is normal 8 week old puppy behavior....I would keep a section of the house gated off or use an x-pen so that the puppy isn't always biting your 5 year old for starters. Be very consistant about taking her to potty. That means every time she wakes up from a nap, every time she is fed, and numerous times in between. I would not use the puppy pads either, I think they are confusing to a dog. Are you home all day to train her? Don't worry, she will start to learn, but she needs time. Look into one of the many training programs there are and stick with it. Good luck to you.
