Posted: 11:28:15 PM 8/30/2010 Hi, new here. I just adopted a dog today from a rescue league. He was advertised as labrador/doberman mix, but is obviously a pit bull or pit bull/lab mix. The rescue league didn't have a whole lot of info on him and they also misrepresented his age (post said 1-1/2 years old - 2 vets estimated he's 5). I have him at home and he's a really sweet dog and is already quite attached to me. But I'm now having buyer's remorse. I have 2 small kids (3 & 6) and a cat. So far, so good, but I can't stop worrying. I'll try to post a pic to see if anyone here can identify. I could also use some words of encouragement/advice :)
Are you having buyer's remorse because you think the dog is a Pitbull mix? You said the dog is a sweetheart, and is estimated at 5 years old. Please give the dog a chance. Pitties are some of the most affectionate family dogs on earth...so don't let all the B.S. about the breed get to you. I would trust this dog as much as I would the mix you thought he was, if not more. Give him some time to socialize with people and other dogs, and see how he behaves.
