Bringing my 5 year old spayed Shiba to vet #6. (Just a dislike for vets that don't treat my pups well...nothing to do with question). Looking for another way to present my Shiba's issue to vet (as I am very dramatic when going to vet). For MANY years she has been licking her bum area. Had her checked for worms - negative, had her anal glands checked - no problem, fissues - none, internal (finger) check for abnormalities - none found (no polyps, etc). Discovered she was diagnosed VERY low hypothyrodism (I think vet only put her on meds to make me happy) - no change in personality from my gal with this low dosage. Her problem is she licks herself CONSTANTLY. It is now so bad, that her bum (where licked)is staining pink (she is solid white). A year ago it was noticed a very small bump above her anus (vets were surprised I found it) but it does not seem to be in the same region as her anal glands. She is licking in the 9-10 o'clock area about 1" out from her actual bum-hole. She does not scoot on the carpet, but when she does her business, she strains and then when she's done she runs away with a look of "panic", and more often then not she'll slam her rump to the ground and pick her leg up and start licking or even just holding that position. Scheduled a more thorough exam with vet #6. Any suggestions I can toss out there to the vet to check is warmly welcomed - they try their hardest, but I am tired of repeat exams, and then follow-ups they don't even ask how she is doing. Sorry long winded, just looking for another idea or way to pursue. (Food - She eats Science Diet and Blue Mountain dog food and tons of raw green beans (yep that is my dogs snack food)and meds are given with cheese. Many kind thanks for any suggestions!
