My friend has two Westies, female and male for about 2 and a half years already. She said that her female westie, Claire was pregnant few months back and she has a litter or westies now. And her male westie, Darren is currently in the vet due to a injury on his front left leg. A dog quite much bigger than a westie bit Darren on the leg. So it's only Claire and her first litter of puppies. From what information I have from my friend :
1) Claire gave birth six puppies but sadly, three passed away. (Two was twins and sadly did not make it. The other one. I hate to say it but a car banged him. (Two female, One male)) 2) The remaining puppies (three), is really healthy and got their shots. 3) Puppies are going to be nine weeks old soon. 4) Puppies feed on the same dog food I feed Snowball, Artemis dog food. 5) Puppies' birthdays are unknown because Claire gave birth to them during before to after midnight. 6) Names have been decided already but she said I can change the name ((Is it possible to change the name after being named already?)) 7) They all have their own collars and leashes (different colors but same design) 8) Each of the puppies has their own toys 9) Puppies have no parasites!!
And she also said whichever puppy I take, she'll also give me the collar, leash and the toys. My friend said her parents only let her keep one puppy out of three and her two other friends is going to collect the puppy next Tuesday. She also told me this "First come, first serve." So I am going to my friend's house this Saturday to take a look.
I want the puppy but I'm not sure if I am ready for another dog? My friend said if it's confirmed that I am going to take it, she can wait for a month or two. So since I am going to take a look at the puppies, I'll choose which one I will take and I can reserve the puppy IF my parents confirms.
Sorry for this long post, I really just need some suggestions if I should take or not. Oh, and the name of my friend's dog family is :
Mother - Claire Father - Darren Daughter 1 - Astral (name learned (I'm the one who suggested this name. )) Daughter 2 - Emily (not sure if name is learned because sometimes puppy does not respond when name is called) Son - Buddy (name learned)
Again, sorry for this really long post!! Suggestions? Thanks!!
I don't think that taking care of two would be much harder than taking care of the one.. The main thing would be whether you (or your parents, if they are they ones who would be paying) can cover the extra expense-- vet visits, flea prevention, food, etc. If you can swing the extra expense, I say go for it!
I think she meant that some puppies were born right before midnight and some after that she wasn't what date to put down that they were born? At least that is how I understood #5 of her post.
I still stand by my original post about getting a second puppy when you asked this question about getting one from your friends pet store. Should you choose to get another puppy, I would choose the male. That way you can at least avoid one potential problem of same sex aggression. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
@shinyblackpit : My parents are the ones paying the money and taking them to the vet. I just follow them so I know what's going on.
@lpn169 : I'm not so sure either. All she know is that the puppies were born on the 3rd week of July but she didn't tell me what date. I think I will check with her parents about that.
She told me that the puppy probably gone through the spacings between the gate bars because the main gate and side gate was closed and locked. Then she said when she went out of her house to check on the puppies, she saw one puppy at the road, dead as in "run over" by the vehicle. And for the rest like how come the other puppies did not go through the gate, she didn't tell me either.
What other screen name??? I promise upon my God that I do not have another account on this forum. And when I say promise, it's the truth.
