There are so many breeds and mixed breeds out there. The "perfect fit" depends on many factors. Are your parents in favor of your getting a pup? Are they willing to assume the financial responsibilities? How large is your home? How many people live in the home? How busy is the household? How often would the pup be alone? Who will be responsible for the pup's care (feeding, grooming, walking, socializing)? How much time are you willing to dedicate to the pup?
It's not all about size, coat and the "cute factor". In order to determine which pup would be right for you and that you are right for, you have to talk to your parents and do a bit of research. I also think it's an excellent idea to visit local shelters to interact with different dogs, breeds and perhaps find just the right new member of your family.
