My 7 year old Xolo/Chinese Crested hairless dog has raised areas of inflamed skin on front and back legs. Itch him like crazy. Cant leave him unattended, day or night. Otherwise he'll scratch and bite himself bloody. Vets put him on antibiotics, steroids, anti inflamatory pills, etc. Nothing works. Steroids help...a little, and only sometimes. Changed his foods, covered/removed wool area rugs, changed laundry detergents, etc. No change. Also have a min pin dog that is unaffected. Cats are fine too. Just our hairless is suffering with this. Anyone with similar problem? Find out what it was? Any help greatly appreciated, this has been geting worse for a year now.
I have seen a couple dogs that start chewing with fleas or a food allergy and pick it up as a nervous habit. A friends cat just had some luck with an antidepressant. It had a big wound on its chest it kept open for more than a year.
