I purchase a Portugeese water dog from * last month (November)They did not send any medical info or AKC papers during shipment. I was told that the papers would be sent later because they were afraid they would get lost during shipping. I have contacted them numerous times via email and phone messages and know reponse. I finally found the vet, than I found out that no exam or shots were given only a rabies shot was performed. The puppy has one eye larger than the other and appears to very insecure or easily frightened. Stay under people all the time and won't go outside if no one is with her. It looks as though she may have been abused, not sure, but these breeders are constantly having and selling litters via terrific pets. Wonder why they won't respond to my messages?

I am a PWD owner/shower/breeder also. I have only shipped two pups in four litters, as I ask owners to fly in, meet us, meet the parents and see where their pup grew up for 2-3 months. I never ship paperwork with the dog on a flight, but will mail it ahead of time or on the same day. Sending paperwork separately is customary for many. The dog has to receive immunizations, and have a vet check within 10 days, to be shipped, so I am unsure of what you mean by not seeing a vet. They should be returning your calls though and they have an obligation to support you through the life of a pup they sell.
See if they are members of the PWDCA, and if so, you may be able to get support through the club. You can also ask to be put on a PWDCA list serve, even if you are not a member, and post on there. I guarantee you that your breeder will be inundated with emails and you will get a lot of advice.
If you want to PM me, I can research the pedigree to assist you, as other breeders in the line can contact them if needed. Are they still advertised on TP? You can also contact TP for false advertising possibly, if they talked about paperwork and no paperwork was delivered.
Sorry you experienced this, as we try so hard to keep impeccable records, test our lines, and reproduce the finest dogs that will contribute to the breed. I will help you any way that I am able to do so. My first pup was from a fairly unreputable breeder that made many promises and did not follow through. She is advertised continuously on TP as well as numerous other sites. I know many breeders and will do what I can to get you any paperwork if they are in fact from a registered pair.
