My Llasa/terrier mix is 3 1/2 yrs old & has had ear problems since birth. They turn red & im not sure if it's just allergy or if it's an actual infection. In the past, Ive taken her to the vet & they prescribe antibiotics which fixes the problem, if only temporarily. They have always treated the problem as an allergy & ive had her on duck & sweet potato food for over 2 1/2 yrs..but she will still flare up at times. Does anyone else have this problem? & is this possibly a breed problem? Could it possibly be from peanut butter? I give her allergy pills in just a little fingertip of peanut butter..which the vet said was ok to give her. help!!! I just don't know what to do anymore with all these recurrent ear problems. I keep her ears clean & dry & the hair is really short.
If they are not better on the duck and potatoe then find a different food, one with limited ingredients, perhaps its the potatoe that she cant handle. Have you considered raw? Many dogs with allergies do fantastic on raw because the proteins are unprocessed.
The food I give her now is pretty limited as far as ingredients..Im feeding her Evanger's duck & potato & it's grain free. Im also giving her California Natural dry dog food & Im wondering if that might be the problem. It's Herring & sweet potato, but I noticed it also has barley & oatmeal in it & my vet suggested to stay away from grains..so maybe this is the problem! He also said to stay away from dairy, beef & chicken ugh! what's left?? why does this have to be so complicated?! :)
