Hi all, New puppy at home (Rhodesian) never had this issues in the 3 other Ridgebacks we've had over the years. She is 13 weeks old and experiencing loose stools at night. She is under constant supervision when outside, we are NOT on well water, she has had all her shots and worming, even a fecal exam showing negative for coccidia. She is on a Dr. Van Pattens life stages food and a good schedule of breakfast, small lunch and dinner and still having very loose stools every few days and mostly in the evenings.
She is energetic, rowdy even and loves her 7 year old Rhodesian buddy Puka. My husband is at home with her all day and I work but come home at lunches to try to establish structure/schedule (exercise and love) in her new life.
We've tried pumpkin and white rice mixed with her food and it seems to firm them up a bit. But we keep getting surprised by the loose bowels. We're concerned we are not giving her what she needs to firm up and absorb nutrients and everything we see online or in conversations with the vet is to try the bland diet and rule things out.
If changeing the diet is something that your not going to do, try an additive to the food. In the Clinic we use a powder formula called Acute Care, that you just add to the diet. Your Vet probly carries at least one brand, give them a call. Hopefully thats all you'll need.... Sue
