Ive got a 2 yr old dogue and shes on her 2nd season, i was told that dogues have split seasons which means one seasons shes fertile and the next shes not (but wont no wot one she is and wot ones shes not) can anyone tell me if this is true? many thanks dopeydogue :)
a split heat means when a bitch is in heat, she will go out of heat in the middle for a couple days up to a week or so. She will then come back in for the remainder of her heat. This is usually caused by a hormone problem. These problems can be passed by genetics, and those dogs really should not be bred.
Much research needs to be done if you are having those problems within a breed. You should have a mentor to go to. Dogue's do have their fair share of serious health problem and breathing problems if not bred correctly.
If you are not showing, or have a mentor to help you better the breed, the best thing you can do is spay your bitch.
