i have a female boerboel about one and a half years and i havent seen any heat yet.i have gone to different vets but they keep on saying different things like its having internal heat,it needs inducement,it needs multivitamins, etc.i have tried multivitamins but maybe there is a particular one which i do not know and i cannot induce it because am afraid it might hurt it.pls i need advice because its getting frustrating any boerboel breeder can pls tell me about the cycle,it will be an added advantage.thanks
Some larger dog breeds mature later. It could be from the bloodlines. Ask her breeder what is the average age that her female puppies have their first heat.
I have a line that unfortunately never has their first heat until 18-30 months and then they only come in season every 12-18 month. I was just telling my husband, I think that I have a nearly 3 year old that has never had a cycle. It sucks, but I don't think it is a problem because many of her 1/2 sisters out of the same stud are just really late bloomers.
It is inconvenient for breeding and I was just discussing how I am going to cut back on that bloodline and get some girls that actually come in season more than once a year.
Good luck to you.
