We love our puppy like our little baby. We know she's a dog, but we really love her. She has lately been aggressive towards us. She won't listen unless we have a treat and even then sometimes she doesn't. When we gets on the couch or bed and we want her off, if I reach my hand towards her she will snap at it, not bite or make contact, but threatens it. She also will play this stupid game where she will go steal something and run around with it while we say "drop it." She will only drop it if we reach for a treat or we have to trap her and then she will drop it. We don't chase her, we walk slowly. It's getting so old!!!! She is so behaved in other ways but I am concerned that she thinks she is alpha in our pack and I need to know how to fix it. Please help!!!
Well it definatly sounds like she has you all trained pretty well. If she does this behavior, she get a treat. having her up on furnature with you allows her to be your equal. I do believe you need a good trainer to come to your home and help you with basic stuff. The first thing I would do is no longer allow her on the furnature. Also do not have things in her reach that she can steal. I would also have an x-pen or area she can be in when you can not watch her.
I am thinking this will only make things worse. We are planning on resuming our training classes but the trainer wants to wait for a class with fewer dogs since he was nearly impossible to handle around 10 other dogs..he could not focus on me, no interest at all. Here at home we have continued training and work with him nearly every day.
