My dog is a Poodle/Fox Terrier. Three days ago, she appeared to a bit lethargic. I did not pay too much attention. Later in the evening she was lying down and could not move. When I try to stand her up she falls down. She is so limp it is as if she has no bones. She eats and drinks if I put the food and water to her mouth. She does not appear to be in any sort of pain. I stuck a pin into her leg and she did not appear to notice. That worried me. Went to the Vet, he was not available. Spoke to his assistant, who was not familiar with the symtoms.
Emergency vet time. Have them run a tick panel on your dog to check for tickborne diseases. They may need to send a tick panel out. The in house tick tests most vets have, the 4DX,tests for lyme, anaplasmosis and erlichia only. It might be a paralysis related to a tick bite.
How was your dogs activity before the lethargy? Is it possible she could've ruptured a disc playing or jumping too much?
