It wasn't just any napkin -- it was a sanitary napkin. That was 2-3 weeks ago. He's eating and pooping just fine. I watched him and after about a week he vomited and up came half of it. I'm thinking the other half may still be in his system. He seems healthy, drinking more water than ever before for some reason. Suddenly, for the past week or two, he has been peeing in the house, including in the middle of the night while sleeping with one of the kids. I'm thinking there is still a piece of that napkin in his system soaking up so much water that he can't control his bladder when it has finally reached its limit. I'm scared to induce vomiting as I've read in some of the other posts only because he swallowed the object weeks ago. Do you think the uncontrolled peeing is connected to a possible half of a napkin in his gut somewhere? Now what?
The only way to tell for sure if that napkin is still in there is to have you vet either ultrasound him or have a barium study done on him. As for the peeing issues, those are not typical signs of an obstruction. Signs of a total obstruction are not eating, vomiting, lethargy and not passing any stool. A partial obstruction can show intermittent vomiting, intermittent appetite and some bouts of lethargy. The peeing is not normal and is probably a sign of something else going on that is unrelated to the swallowing of the napkin and is just coincedental. Either way a trip to the vet is in order.
Ugh, My AM BULLY just ate sequins off of my shirt Wednesday night. She has been having really bad poop accidents ever since. She has been really lazy and not wanting to go on walks. She even laid down while drinking out of her bowl instead of standing (which she's never done). She hasn't thrown up, but i did notice one sequin in her poop. I went ahead and called the vet and he said to bring her in. I had my boyfriend take her in and the vet said it's a little too early to tell and her stomach sounded fine and she was fairly excited to see everyone at the office. He said she might have picked up some type of illness and gave her puppy Pepto-Bismol(spelling) and antibiotics.
My biggest issue is, the vet wasn't the normal guy we see at the office and as he was explaining what i told him over the phone to the vet tech and my boyfriend... made me sound like i was overreacting and made it sound worse than it was. I was not even in the vets office to defend myself as i was the butt of the joke. My boyfriend tried to defend me he says but they just kept laughing. I am pretty offended due to the fact i wasn't able to defend myself as well as it makes me feel like the vet thinks i am incapable of taking care of my dog.
However; he did notice that she was starting to show symptoms of entrophin eyelids on her left bottom eyelid. He said it wasn't a bad case yet and it wasn't necessary to do the expensive surgery as long as we keep her wrinkles clean around her nose and under the eye. My question is, how long should we wait to do the surgery as well as should i get a second opinion? Or refuse to go to the vet unless my original vet is there?
