Apparently the judge is only allowed to order monetary damages to be paid and not the return of the stolen *poperty* because the case was heard in small claims court. I really don't know how I would feel or what I would do if this happened to me. I'm sure I would want my dog back, but would it be fair to my dog to have it taken from the home it has been living in for the last 6 years, with a family who takes good care of it and I am sure it has bonded with ? I odn't know what the right thing to do would be.
this is really a hard one. I would normally say that the age has alot to do with the reward. Tilly was 3 when she was placed, so she should be able to transition back to her old home.
The problem is she was not actually stolen, and the original owner if I am reading the story right, had left her where she was injured, and then continued to leave her there. That is where my issue would come from.
I really cannot say what I would do. Sure I know I would want my dog back, but 6 years is an awful long time. If my dog were truly happy where she was, and the people were taking good care of her, I'd have to think long and hard about what was best for her.
