I have feral cats in my neghborhood. Also a few dogs. I was thinking about starting a rescue group to help them. Yes, I have considered TNR, but, they are going hungry out there. I love animals and need advice on how to help.
Are they truly feral? Most adult truly feral cats cannot be rehabbed enough to be placed into homes. That is why there is TNR, to trap, treat, vaccinate, neuter so they cannot reproduce, and then release back. People who do this make a commitment to feed and care for these animals even though they live outdoors so they don't starve. Just because they are outdoors does not mean they are feral. They could, from what I've been told because I've gone through this recently, belong to someone who lives in your neighborhood, even a few streets away. Before you do anything with them, hang lost posters around with their pictures on them to see if they belong to anyone.
