I don't want to go over to her house and I don't want her at mine? Her and her husband are up in their years and think I make a fortune with my Doberman puppies (yeah...right) so they, being on Social Security, decided the way to get some easy(?) cash in a hurry was to breed Shih Tzus and Yorkies. They asked my advice and I told them to get 1 quality stud and 2 or 3 quality bitches, expect to pay at least $500 for each dog. Well they didn't have the money to take my advice and they're knuckleheads, and they bought the cheapest dogs they could find. A breeder sold them a male Shih Tzu it had a little "allergy" and red skin. months later it was enflamed and crusty, so they asked me what I thought it was and i said mange, they got offended at that and the dog got worse and worse, a vet said it was an allergy and gave him a cortisone shot, it never cleared up, so they went to MY vet and POOF...demodectic mange. So I said to neuter him and get another QUALITY stud, they refused and bred him. So now a year or so later, they decide that 5 Shih's are good, so 10 will be better and hey, Yorkies are top sellers in this area, so yeah...get 6 or so of them...Now they get these "breeder dogs" off of craigslist from people who just want to get rid of their pets fast. They go pretending to want these dogs for pets and people sell them the dogs cause they look like a nice elderly couple.
Long story short, their luck ran out amonth ago..A Yorkie they had for 13 days got sick, she called me and asked what it could be that the dog was shi****ing blood, her words. I said parvo and you better bleach every single place where she is messing. well they didn't, just normal cleaning it up. 4 weeks ago, 4 bitches had collectively 20 pups. 2 of the Shih's pups had luxataing patelleas, I told her that, she didn't believe me and the vet confirmed and recommended euthanising...then last Sunday, she called, a pup was vomiting and extremely sick, no bloody poop yet, just very sick.. like an idiot, I went over there, thinking it was just dehydrated, to give it sub Q fluids and it died, she never called me back. Last night she called to say Happy Mothers day and lo and behold...through the week, they lost 9 pups to parvo and some are still sick. She seems very matter of fact, upset because they were counting on the money, etc..... YIKES...I WAS OVER THERE..... I know to bleach my property and my vet said I'm probably OK because I was only in the house and didn't get feces or vomit on my shoes, but their place is a hotbed for Parvo and we helped each other out with dewclaw removal and tail docking, she helped with my Dobies and I with her Shih and yorkies. We both have litters due at the end of the month and there's NO WAY she's coming on my property much less handling my pups and vice versa. I know i can say things like I don't think we should be handling each others pups anymore to avoid cross contamination, but she wants me to pick up pee pee pads at Costco for her cause I work in town and she doesn't have a costco card. Ok I can get the pads, but she will have to come out to my car to get them. She is going to be totally offended and that's Ok with me, but can anyone here think of ways to tell her to not come to my house? I mean her dogs crap all over the property and I'm sure she drives the car over poops in the grass..we obviously live in the country. I don't want her car on my land or her shoes in my house, 9 pups in a week is not an isolated case, I warned them not to get greedy and over do this, they didn' listen and well, scary...I don't think they're going to stop breeding, either. She won't bleach her land, she says there's too much and it would be expensive..duh I have 2 acres to bleach before my litter is due....even though I keep my pups inside and only on concrete kennels when they are old enough to go outside. Advice here please!
I know it is scary and you may have concern to freak out, but as long as your momma dogs have been vaccinated for Parvo your pups should be fine. They will get some immunity from mom's milk until they are weaned. Then BEFORE that, you really need to give them a high titer Parvo shot like Neo-Par.
I have friends that give it as early as 4 weeks and they do just fine. None of my pups have ever got Parvo after I started immunizing with Neopar.
My biggest concern is in the spring/summer when my vet is treating Parvo puppies all the time from stupid people that don't vaccinate. They do quarantine them, but still... they are in the same building as healthy pups.
Seriously, try to reduce exposure, but you know exposure can come from anywhere... any person coming to your place. It is best to be proactive instead of reactive.

I would just be honest with her. Let her know that parvo can live on shoes, grass etc. and you don't want the virus at you home. I have little footie's that I get from a medical supply store. So when I believe someone is coming from another kennel, or the dog warden comes by for an inspection(not licensed, but she still stops in). I make them put on the footie's.
Well, it happened....her bitch had 6 more pups, she called and said "we have tails and claws to do". Yikes...I told her as nice as I could, that I can't be over there anymore because I guarantee my pups are unexposed to parvo. She wanted to bring them to me and I had to just say, no I don't think we should be handling each others pups at all. It was uncomfortable and these people are my friends, they've been wonderful friends that I could count on we helped each other and it's hard to find friends like that. So sad that greed can do this and have such ramifications. BTW. ...she said she bleached all the crates, floors, etc, but doesn't she recontaminate her house every time she brings a kennel dog into the house? If her bitches live in outdoor dirt floor kennels, only brought into the house to whelp, doesn't that reinfect her house? How do you decontaminate the outdoor kennel dogs, or can you? Yikes..forget schoolbus gal, I'm fast becoming Cloroxgal....
