MY fiancÚ and I took our pup to a fantastic dog park for the first time yesterday. She absolutely loved it! We were really proud on how she socialized with the other dogs (mainly the small ones and puppies) and she even loved the pond and picked up swimming in an instant.
My only question is, is there any certain etiquette we should know when going to the dogpark? Of course we know to make sure she isn't bullying other dogs, no jumping on people and pick up after they potty. We just kind of felt like we were stepping on people's toes or Daisy our pup was interrupting play time between other dogs and their owner. Most people were really nice and loved on her but there were a few who seems more annoyed than anything. I just don't want to become that owner who has the obnoxious dog that nobody likes.
She is obidient and listens when we call her to us and if you tell her "down" when she tries to jump on people. I think mostly, people are nervous because she would rather play with dogs half her size and she is a hefty 85lb american bulldog. She is pretty timid with dogs her size, but we are hoping that will change the more we take her to the park the more she'll play with large dogs.
took my dogs to the dog park yesterday. My dalmation was fine and had a good time. I have a 7 month old lab that kept getting chased and bit by a german shepherd. We chased the shepherd away. The owners did nothing. There were smaller dogs at the park but the shepherd did not pick on them. Is it because my dog is new? Will he stop bullying once he gets used to my dog? What makes a dog the target of attacks?
