I found her this morning in a great deal of pain and favoring her hind legs. After taking her to the vet and having x-rays performed, we found that there are pelvic fractures, including a “SI luxation” on the left side, and an avulsion fragment on the right side. We haven't really discussed it, but my vet and the radiologist are leaning towards surgery. I cannot afford surgery and have been denied by CareCredit. I was wondering what options I had as far as being able to nurse her back to health at home through bed rest. This cat is like a child to me, so any information would be helpful. I don't want to have to explore other less savory options. Please help!
Theres an old saying that goes "If all of a cats parts are in the same room, it will heal just fine". If you cannot afford surgery I would just keep her on pain meds and let her heal on her own. You may run into problems once she heals such as having difficulty having a bowel movement or developing arthritis but it's worth a shot. Don't let them put her on Meloxicam(Metacam) because it has severe side effects in cats if given orally even for the prescribed 10 day period. Good Luck and let us know how she progresses.
