I have a gorgeous 7 month old white/cream husky who i love to pieces shes like my first child! Shes my first husky and after being told there difficult to train we were a bit dubious but weve had no troubles with her what so ever
if any one has any hints or tips for keeping huskies as pets id love some more info especially on dietary matters and excercise :)
Hello! I am so happy about a post on taking care of huskies!!! I can help you on care!
GROOMING Huskies have very, very high grooming needs. Since they were bred in cold places, they have thick, rough fur. The best brush to use would probably be a plastic one with Metal spikes for brushing. And it might be a good idea to do it outside or somewhere without carpet! :) And speaking of carpet, if you have some, watch out! Huskies shed A LOT! So grooming is a must!
TRAINING Different types of huskies mean different training. Siberians can go both ways. If you get a dog as an adult, it will be harder to train. You will need patience! But if you work really hard and be persistent, then your dog can be wonderful! If you don't want to train yourself, take your dog to someone with experience with huskies (for example, they had one as a child). And don't expect a trainer to take complete care of training needs- you will need to practice everything at home on your own. ;)
FEEDING Huskies are big dogs with big appetites! They need lots of food to give them energy! There are two ways that are best to feed. 1. You can use a schedule for one thing. Write down the times your dog eats most and google eating habits. 2. Do it the normal way. 3-4 meals a day for huskies. If your husky is smaller than normal or seems to not eat much or is becoming overweight, then stick with 2-3 meals a day. Normally 2 is much to small for a husky, but you can see how your dog is doing after those eating habits.
EXERCISE Huskies need a ton of exercise! After all, they are sled bred dogs! You should play outside all the time together and next time you decide to run or take a walk, bring your dog with you! This can make you closer as owner and dog, too. Fetch is a great way ti get out and play, and if your dog prefers toys, then that's great too!
I hope this helps you have a happy, healthy dog! :) Thanks!
Dogs are my pride and my joy, and I can't wait to show you all the cool things I have ready to get you closer to your dog!
