Hello I just recently had a puppy sent too me from south carolina I took her too the vet a few days ago n the vet said she couldn't believe how bad it was he said it sound like a washing machine an too either send her back too breeder or put her down but we love her already n dnt wanna give up on her already is there medication 4 this?
I know you said you love this puppy, but you have been scammed and you should not allow this to happen by keeping the puppy. I say this because, it very simple to determine if the puppy has a heart murmurs. The veterinarian just uses a stethoscope to determine if a heart murmur exists. The puppy was shipped to you therefore it had to undergo a medical prior to being shipped; therefore I would assume that the puppy was switched. You should be entitled to your money back and shipping. There is no way that a puppy with a grade four would have passed the medical. Keeping the puppy, just allows this breeder to continue scamming unknowing people.
Out of the five litters we have had, one pup had a grade 3 murmur. We took him to a veterinary cardiac specialist at Colorado State University-Fort Collins. He said a grade three wasn't even operable, as it was mild. A grade four is one step worse, so ANY vet would have heard it. Heart murmurs do not develop later in 8-10 week old pups, so you were scammed and I would collect at least half of the price back from the breeder. The breeder needs to own up to this one or report them to their national breed club.
I sold our pup with a murmur, with a special contract and only charged half price for him. The vet said he should live at 4,000 feet elevation or below, as high elevations and the lack of oxygen, can create pulmonary hypertension and would shorten his life span.
DO NOT put the poor dog down. I doubt he/she will have too many health issues, but surgery is an option and runs $1500-$2500. A grade 4 is not as bad as a grade 6, and your pup may live problem free, so give it a chance.
He is your friend, partner, defender, your dog. You are his life, love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.
