My dog is almost 2 years old (2 in August). He's a 21 lb mix of whippet/jack russel. Name is Diesel. I noticed him holding up his left leg when running and using the stairs, and I noticed him doing it some in his right as well. I took him to my local vet, who then suggested I take him to Dr. Bill Avra. This same doctor fixed my cats broken like 5-6 years ago, but I barely remember him, as I was only in middle school.
Dr. Avra told me my dog had grade 3, almost 4 Luxating Patella in both of his hind legs. He said it's probably hereditary since it is in both of his hind legs. I scheduled him for surgery at 10:30 in the morning on Tuesday (June 7th)
I'm just so worried. I got him a blood and urine test done and I get the results tomorrow, for his wellness test. What if something comes back negative? Is there a high success rate for this surgery? Recovery time? How long does he need to be confined to his kennel for? Anything I should watch for?
