Hey everyone. My fiance and I just got a very young malshi mix pup that we call Rocky. We've only had him about 5 days but he's done a little better than I thought. We are in the process of crate training him but needless to say this is a big work in progress. At first he was fine with it. He would go in there, play, sleep, all that business. And he's essentially crate-trained. But today he was a wreck. He was constantly crying, flipping out even though we have his favorite toys in there and we try to do a good job of playing with him when he's out. He gets all his meals in there and I try to take him out as often as I can to relieve himself. I'm freaking out though about his behavior though. I feel bad that he's crying like this and I don't know what to do to make him feel better. Please anyone help me cuz I'm making myself sick with worry that I am completely screwing up this dog! I've had dogs before but never this young. please hurry!
Maybe when you put your dog in his crate put a treat in and put a shirt in that you where a lot so he will think of you, because the shirt has your scent. When I went on vacation, I put my dog in a dog hotel, then I put a shirt that I wore a lot in his crate. It helped him remember me.
I love my dog! He's on security guard! And also a natural born cutie!
