Our 5 mo old Goldendoodle has been very mouthy from the beginning. We have used all of the various techniques (ouch, no hands near his mouth, turn away, give toys) with some success. In the last two weeks. however, he has become aggressive towards things (not always food, but whatever he deems special) and has begun turning, growling and lashing out with full fledged agggression and biting(breaking skin advancing on you if you back up). It can be for a variety of things it started with him grabbing food off the table and has expanded to bones, hairbrush, even moving to bend down and take his leash to lead him away from something he wants. We have had good success with the shaker can followed by positive praise when he stops or doesn't do the unwanted behavior for him trying to get things from the table and the dishwasher. But he then expanded to these other areas. So for example, he was sitting on an ottoman in the family room, my daughter came in for me to brush her hair. She put the brush down near him, he went for it at the same time she went to pick it up, he growled and lashed out and nipped her finger. We have done the trading resources thing which is fine for things he doesn't care about at that moment but if he is fixated, forget it. He is scheduled to be neutered this week. Help?? BTW no rants about how this is a mixed breed and you don't know what you get from horrible breeders. We were very careful and chose a highly recommended breeder, know two families with dogs from the same breeder and sire, saw all medical records for the parents and the puppy including all recommended genetic testing - all of which was fine.
