I need some help with my 7 month old Neo Mastiff. Every time we crate him he pees or poops in his crate. He will also yelp until he is hoarse. We have had him since he was 8wks old and started crate training from day 1. We have left him out of his crate and gated him in one room and he destroyed the room he was in. We have tried leaving him in a room with our 2 year old English bulldog and we found her shaking in a corner when we returned. People keep telling us that he will grow out of it. We have tried everything. We don't let him out until he is quiet. We will actually make him stay in his crate even if he peed in it. (gross I know) We were hoping this might deter him if he had to sit in it. The vet said he is to young for anxiety meds. We have tried all the calming agents and they do not phase him at all. I know this is a common trait for this breed but I am hoping there might be a fix. Does anyone have suggestions
Unfortunately, it sounds like your dog has separation anxiety...not an easy thing to deal with. My suggestion is to Google it, there is a lot of information out there that will help you deal with the issue.
Get ready to spend a lot of time trying to make your dog comfortable while alone. IMHO, if you work outside your home, you're probably not going to be successful in eradicating the issue, but you can learn how to manage it so your dog experiences less discomfort while you're away.
Sadly, there is no magic bullet, it takes a lot of time and patience to get a dog through this, and, in the end, you may just have to manage it (as I do with my SA dog), rather than cure it.
I'm assuming you love your dog, so you'll deal with the situation as best you can. Best of luck!
Try putting him in the crate when you're around and keeping an eye on him. If he does it and you see it, quickly give a few stern "No"s, with the door open and you right in front of him. He may grow out of it, but try to reinforce now that this is bad behavior, and you can only reinforce it when you catch him in the act. Remember, he's just a puppy and they have to pee a lot. He may just need time to get older so that he can hold it longer. Good luck! http://www.zimbio.com/Anti-aging/articles/cldeZ2Gc4BP/Wrinkle+Cream+Review+Simple+Promising+Way
