I am the proud owner of a 3 year old male pomeranian. His name is Indy and he weighs about 9 pounds. When Indy was a litle over a year something wierd happened. We came home, and I took him outside, he started loosing balance as he was walking, then would just run absolutly CRAZY in all direction and big circles. When I finally caught him to force him to calm down, I put him in my arms, and went back inside. I put him down and all the sudden he just sits there unable to move, wobbly, not responding to his name, and looked like he lost sight too. Then he slowly collapses and that's when we run to the car to drive to the closest emergency clinic. In the car, while I'm driving crazy to save my dog's life, Indy passes out in my boyfriend's lap, and piss all over him. I'm flipping out, can't stop crying because I thought it was over, he was dying. We get to the clinic, and they put an IV to his little paw. About an hour later they tell me that he was very dehydrated, but didn't give him anything else other than run some blood tests and stuff. My Indy stayed the night there, and I ended up paying about $800. They gave me copys of paperworks and results from the tests but are ABSOLUTLY unable to tell me what's THE HELL is wrong with my baby!! So anyways....now Indy is 3 and recovered well. BUT....about 6 months after this incident, Indy started doing the SAME thing, he started being all wobbly even when sitting. All of the symptomes were coming back, and I freaked out, grabbed him and back to the emergency room, exept this time we get there and about 30 mins later he's fine and they didn't do abything to him. Paid another $300 to tell me that my dog recovered by himself, and they looked at me like I was nuts. The first time I thought he might have ate some kind of pesticide? but since it happened a second time, I think it may be something in his brain?? So I was wondering if I could have any kind of opinions on what might be wrong with him? or any helpful advise? please help I really LOVE my dog.
Sounds like it may be episodes of low blood sugar. I suggest you go to a regular vet rather than an e vet and determine if your dog may be hypoglycemic or diebetic. It may be a diet related issue as well and not anything serious. Research some info online about low blood sugar in dogs and then speak to a qualified vet. Best of luck to you and your dog.
