Hi, I have a 7 month old Irish wolfhound bitch, we got her when she was about 10 weeks old. I've had wolfhounds before so am used to the breed. This one behaves very badly, demands constant attention and if she doesn't get it, jumps up on people and tends to use her mouth to grab you, not biting but you'd still feel it. As she is very big it is becoming a huge problem. Nobody can walk up to the house if she is in the yard but she is on top of them. We cannot seem to stop her behaving like this no matter what we try. I don't want to confine her as she is a family pet, can anyone tell me how to stop her behaving like this. As I said we have had wolfhounds before and never had a problem like this, they are affectionate dogs and love attention but this one is a nightmare!!!
She sounds like a puppy who has not learned her boundaries as of yet. I suggest you read up on NILIF (nothing in life for free) training and go back to basics with her.
I also suggest you not allow guests to interact with her until she is quiet and calm. Instruct them to ignore her until she relaxes. This should cut back on her excitement level and teach her a bit more about respecting others. Using a leash on her while guests are around would be a big help to avoid her jumping on others and allowing you a handle of correction.
