Hi I in March I took in a female boxer that had just turned 1yr old from a friends family member. She was underfed and had not been potty trained at all. So at the age of 1 I started the potty training process with her. After a week she was able to stay out of her crate at night and not have too many issues if I got out of bed and took her directly outside when we woke up in the morning...any delay and well we had an accident. But she has gotten 100 times better with that but now my problem is she is still having accidents during the day. She was crated when I first got her during the day and after about 6 wks of no accidents in her crate I decided to let her run free with my boy during the day while I am at work. I have people let them out multiple times a day so we were doing good with no accidents. Then all of a sudden she started pooping and peeing in the house again so back to the crate we went with her. She did good without accidents for a few wks and now we are back to having accidents in the crate! Im soooo frustrated I dont understand the back and forth issues. I walk her on the treadmill to make sure she gets exercise and her and my 3yr old male boxer play for hours, we go to the dog park to play with other dogs so Im not sure what the problem is...any ideas??
As a puppy/dog is around people "forget" or are bothered less often. Keep a chalkboard around and mark when she is let out and it will tell. We rescued a dog that was "let out all the time" and "fed every night". Ever seen the "everybody, somebody, nobody" article?
