I recently had an opportunity to get a Pitbull Terrier Puppy. I have, in the past year, adopted a Labrador Mix puppy that's now 18 months old.
Of course, the Pitbull Terrier puppy is not free. He is going to cost me $200.
I have always planned on getting another dog. A companion for my Labrador mix so he'll have a companion while I'm at work. I've always wanted a Beagle and that was my very first choice.
I have the urge to get the Pitbull Terrier puppy but I'm worried about its temperament. I know not every Pitbulls are aggressive but they still scare me. I'm still pretty new in terms of raising dogs but I'm really happy about raising my Labrador mix puppy. But then again, Labradors have really great temperament.
I'm worried that I may not raise the Pitbull puppy well and since I don't know the temperament of its parent, that also scares me. Plus the fact that I still have little experience in raising dogs (though my Labrador mix puppy grew up really well. Very very friendly to everyone and every dog he meets). Should this stop me?
Was I right to pass on the Pitbull Puppy and instead wait until I can get a Beagle puppy? I'll be so much more comfortable raising a Beagle but then again, I might be passing on a great Pitbull dog. I've heard great things about Pitbulls but also bad things. I was just not sure if the media was blowing it out of proportion.
