On average, I know they live to about 10-12, but I have on currently who's 11, and she's still so young at heart. She's energetic and loves to run every day. She runs and jumps and chases and (catches) squirrels. She's just my baby and... Everyones telling me she's going to die soon because of that average?
Have there been cases of them living longer? Or do they just fail genetically...
What's the oldest one on record?
I wish I could press a button and have her be a puppy again /:
I have a pitbull lab mix that is coming up on thirteen years old. She still acts silly and runs after squirrels in the back yard. She's a little more ginger with herself, but she still loves to go for walks and play.
Back in the days, I had 2 Pit Bull Chow mixes..short coats, Hooch lived to be 16 1/2, and his daughter Dixie 15. The trick? keep their weight normal. Keep them as indoor pets and feed a decent food. Mine ate Purina Dog Chow, and neither ever weighed more than 50 pounds. They were 18" tall
