My name is Billy and I have an 11 month old doxie named Marilyn who is not doing so hot. Yesterday at 2PM we found her at the bottom of the stairs and she was limp and unresponsive. Just an hour before we had been playing with her and she had been as happy as ever. I immediately freaked out upon finding her and drove 100mph to get her to the vet as soon as possible.
The vet ride was only five minutes but about halfway through she started coming to and kissing my girlfriend but still was limp. The doctors took X-Rays and found no bone damage and gave us a prescription for both a steroid and a muscle relaxer.
When we got her home she was still pretty zonked out from the painkillers so we took turns holding her through the evening. Our next problem was where would we sleep since "our baby" couldn't risk sleeping on the bed for us. We decided to lay down blankets in the home office and close the doors since there was nothing in there that she could jump on. Everything went well through the night and we got excited when both of us heard her at 530AM munching on some food from her dish. This excitement was short lived though as she walked back to our floor bed and she let out a loud yelp and was stuck on the ground again like she was the day before.
I pet her while she was laying there and tried to make her as comfortable as possible. She calmed down and laid there for a few hours but she never shut her eyes. At about 8AM PST she slowly stood up and walked in circles in the room before going under my desk and hiding behind a filing cabinet.
I called the vet and she wants us to bring her back in for further evaluation.
So where do you recommend we go from here? I am so concerned that at 11 months old she is already experiencing back problems. I love this dog like a kid and I am literally in tears seeing her sad little face.
Any recommendations are greatly appreciated as we will do anything to get our beautiful little dog back in top shape.
