Hello, I'm new to the boards. I have three rescued dachshunds. One is blind and he's 18 years old, the other one is a mini dapple and she's 8 years old, and our sick one is 12 years old.
Bennie who is the 12 years old and he's sick. He's a standard dachshund and he likes to get into trouble. He got on to the table (my dad forgot to push his chair in). Bennie got into my moms medications. He ate the fish oil, and there were other ones. We did call the vet and even though it was Friday night they suggested to either call Animal poison control or emergency vet and that would have cost her 65 bucks to call talk to an emergency vet over the phone. My mom called animal poison control. My dad said, "We'll keep a close eye on him if there is any signs." We live out of town. He never showed any signs or anything at all and even few days after that. Not even throwing up.
Few days later:
Bennie walked outside and slipped on the ice and my mom and I thought,"He hurt his back." Bennie wasn't a happy camper. He didn't run, or bark, play with my cat (like he always does). He didn't had that spark. Then today my mom felt a bump on his knee. We gave him dog food and little pumpkin. The vet told us once that if you add pumpkin to their dog food and it will make them fuller. He throws that up and we decided to boil burger and cook rice and mixed that together (without dog food and pumpkin). He seemed didn't throw it up. He does looks droopy. We know dachshunds have energy and he doesn't. He even didn't play with the cat.
So, if he's in pain, would that cause throwing up? Does sound like he hurt his knee? Any advice would be great
